The solutions, for the modernization of SCADA systems of Isotrol, are helping more than 600 Eolic plants to reduce its O&M costs and to optimize the performance of old wind turbines enlarging its utile life.
The second International Conference about the Life Extension on Wind Farms, organized by the Business Wind Association held the 19th & 20th September 2017, served as the stage for the presentation of the solutions of modernization of SCADA systems that Isotrol proposes to the renewable market.
With the “Retrofit of Local Systems” presentation the Isotrol Director, Carlos Cobos was responsible of explaining the advantages of updating the control system of old turbines in addition to the manufacturers’ maintenance, and how this retrofitting action allows extending the useful life of a wind farm with a low cost investment.
The Retrofitting actions have become a matter of high interest in the Renewable market. As the Wind Energy Business Association reports, Spain is on the first countries that faces the aging of its wind farms: in 2020, half of its wind turbines will be more than 15 years old, and if we take Europe into account, in 2030 half of the 146 GW of wind energy installed in Europe will be more than 20 years old
